Can anyone explain the difference between an 'official' taxi and one that you hail directly on the street? When we were walking back to our hotel one evening, a driver doubled the price when we asked him to take us there. Is this normal, or should we avoid such taxis? Which taxis do you use?

Hello! Are you a tourist?Or are you just curious? I have lived in Dubrovnik with my family for a long time. We moved here in 2019 and, sometime afterwards, I read about GetTransfer in a magazine and decided to give it a try. It's actually very convenient.I once called a taxi here https://gettransfer.com/en/directions/croatia/dubrovnik for my mother and the fare was only about 5 euros. She said that the driver was very polite.It's also good that you can see the price in advance. I don't know about others, but I find it much more convenient. All the locals in Dubrovnik switched to such services a long time ago. Does anyone on the forum have a favourite taxi service?

I only use teletaxi, they are honest ?
