Urwerk practically invented his own genre: science fiction high fiction. When the Swiss Haute Horlogerie pioneer declares that the Urwerk UR-105M “Iron Knight” is inspired by medieval armor, just smile and nod. Only a Jedi "Knight" would have such a spaceship look natural on his wrist.
At 40mm wide, 53mm overall length, and just under 17mm thick, the Urwerk UR-105M is massive. But since the hull is mainly made of PVD black titanium, the quality is quite reasonable. Perhaps the best ergonomic feature of designer Martin Frei's UR-105M is the underhung lug system. Underneath the case is a display as unique as the “Wandering Hours” dial. The radial power reserve tracks the 42-hour power reserve of the manual-wound caliber 5.01 movement. Urwerk uniquely equips the UR-105M Iron Knight with an oil change interval gauge, a gauge that's more at home on a car than a watch.

But it’s the “fine-adjustment index” that’s the real wow factor; Urwerk allows users to manipulate an external balance regulator to correct minor timing differences without the need for watchmaker intervention. A fast/slow timer guides the user through the adjustment process.
